Celebrate the spring equinox and the beginning of boating season each March by burning those nasty winter socks at the Annapolis Oyster Roast & Sock Burning on Saturday, March 21, 2020.
In a tradition dating back to the late-1970s, Annapolitans relieve themselves of the necessities of winter as the “Burn Your Socks” is recited.
Live music is provided by popular local bands, The Eastport Oyster Boys and Naptown Brass Band, who both entertain with a wide variety of musical styles. A shucking contest provides a chance to show your shucking prowess, and guests can purchase the People’s Choice ticket to participate in an exclusive tasting contest in which local restaurants and catering companies compete to prepare their Best Oyster Dish.
For the young at heart, there will be fun activities and exhibits highlighting the area’s unique maritime heritage and the importance of the oyster to the health of the Chesapeake Bay.
General Admission tickets for just $30 and Children's General Admission tickets (ages 3-12) for $15, include all of the fun mentioned above. Purchase tickets in advance; they will sell out.
Of course, there are all you can eat oysters included, and beer, wine, and signature cocktails are available for purchase. Food trucks will also be on site.
Alternatively, guests can purchase the People’s Choice ticket ($85) to participate in an exclusive tasting contest in which local restaurants and catering companies compete to prepare their Best Oyster Dish. This ticket option includes two drinks and ten food tickets for the People's Choice tasting contest, along with everything included in a General Admission ticket as well.
