About the Performance
Come experience the Park Place Lawn from the Veteran’s Overlook as you have never seen it before with Orange Grove Dance’s transformative site-specific choreography and immersive lighting design. Performed on the Lawn and inspired by the reflective nature of the adjacent National Cemetery, OGD will use custom built wireless lighting units to pivot performers and audiences alike into a surreal luminescent landscape that reveals the connection and power of the collective across difficult times and distance.
The design landscape of over 100 wireless lighting units fill the Lawn, spaced 10 feet apart in both directions creating an impressive grid of light, memory, and hope that mirrors the precise rows of almost 3000 identical gravestones that sprawl towards the Annapolis horizon. The dance takes place among this ever expanding and contracting light garden as performers move and refocus the lights on each other from distances far and near. Each dancer and light serves as a reminder of the importance of the individual and the importance of casting our lights together out into the dark and unknown.
*Please note this is an outdoor performance. The performance will run approximately 40 minutes. Please arrive 15-30 minutes early.
MTPA and OGD will be following CDC guidelines closely before, during and after performances. All audience members will be required to wear a mask. There will be ample time between shows for staff to sanitize seats and tables.
If the performance is postponed due to new government restrictions, ticket holders will have 3 options: 1. Return their ticket for a full refund, 2. Donate the cost of the ticket to Maryland Theatre for the Performing Arts, or 3. Choose a spring performance date to attend.
